Minka-Aire is a well-known maker of stylish and energy efficient ceiling fans today. One of our favorite modern ceiling fans on the market today is the San Francisco. This three-bladed beauty accentuates the modern ideals embraced by tech savvy Bay Area residents. In this review, we will discuss the energy specifications and features of the Minka-Aire San Francisco ceiling fan.
The San Francisco features 3 beautifully finished and tapered blades pitched at 13 degrees with a blade sweep diameter of 56 inches. The included light fixture has a capacity for one included 75 Watt halogen bulb (light fixture is optional on the stainless steel version). The drop bridge system is pre-wired and is 12 inches long (total height of the fan is 23 inches top to bottom). This is important to remember because the fan will be cutting hair in a low ceiling room. It weighs 24 pounds, which is a standard weight for a ceiling fan of this size. Three color options are available, including:
- Oil rubbed bronze with a medium maple blade and tinted opal light fixture
- Brushed stainless steel with a birdseye maple blade and a frosted glass light fixture
- Brushed stainless steel with a birdseye maple blade and stainless steel cap (no light fixture)
The fan is UL listed for indoor use and comes with a limited lifetime warranty on the motor. Below are the energy specifications for the San Francisco:
Energy Information at High Speed
|Airflow||Electricity Rate||Airflow Efficiency|
Cubic feet of air per minute
|Watts (excluding light)||cubic feet of air per minute per Watt|
The motor has a low RPM of 70 and a high RPM of 200 (three speeds total). This fan also comes with an easy to use remote control that actually mounts to the wall in the place of a normal light switch. The installation is easy to do with the included instructions. Below you will find a download of the product manual as well as a video showing the step by step installation process for Minka-Aire fans.
As you can see, all of the mounting hardware is included, but an additional downrod can be utilized. For angled mounting, this fan supports up to 29 degrees.
The San Francisco is one of our favorite ceiling fans not just because it can push some serious air, but because it looks good doing so, not to mention energy efficient. One reviewer commented the following:
“We bought this for our family room a couple of months ago to match an existing fan in the master bedroom that was there when we bought the house. It is certainly a bit pricey, but you pay more for something that doesn’t look like it was bought at Home Depot or was designed for an old west saloon or a TGIF’s. Having 3 blades rather than 4 or 5 gives it at a slightly edgy cool look that is still understated and elegant, and the quality of materials and construction is very high. Operation is silent in low or medium speeds.”
This is a great ceiling fan for a room with vaulted ceilings, over your dining room table, or for your master suite, and is perfectly suited for circulating air in rooms ranging from 150-300 square feet.
